Healthcare Provider CPR - Full Course (HCP-F)

First Responder is committed to ensuring that health care providers learn the latest cutting edge information and techniques in a “hands on” oriented environment. Healthcare Provider CPR is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings. These include but are not limited to fire fighters, EMT/Paramedics, nurses, doctors, dentists, lifeguards, respiratory therapists, etc. Our Healthcare Provider class covers CPR for the infant, child and adult patient - with special emphasis on ventilation using a bag-mask device, supplementary oxygen, and other barrier devices. Also covered are methods of clearing a foreign body airway obstruction in infants and adults alike. Students will also have a hands on opportunity to train with an automated external defibrillator (AED) , one of the newest and most exciting additions to cardiac care by the American Heart Association.

Healthcare Provider CPR - Renewal Course (HCP-R)

Our renewal course is designed especially for health care providers who have previously been certified in CPR by the American Heart Association. You will get to review and practice infant, child, and adult CPR after hearing about the latest science and techniques adopted by the American Heart Association. Also covered are relieving foreign body airway obstructions in infant and adult patients, the inclusion of Automated External Defibrillators in early treatment of cardiac arrest, and plenty of time to perfect ventilation techniques including the use of a bag mask, supplementary oxygen, and barrier mask devices.

Heartsaver CPR (HS)

HeartSaver CPR with AED is an American Heart Association (AHA) course designated for the layperson or non-Health Care provider (i.e. teachers, construction, retail, etc). This is a class meant to give the bystander of a cardiac emergency the skills to recognize and properly perform CPR if needed to save someone’s life. Our HeartSaver class covers CPR for the infant, child and adult patient and how to properly use barrier devices. Also covered are methods of clearing a foreign body airway obstruction in infants and adults alike. Students will have a hands on opportunity to train with an automated external defibrillator (AED), one of the newest and most exciting additions to cardiac care by the AHA. HeartSaver CPR will provide you with video based lessons, instructor input and practice on the manikin before you will be tested for competency on these skills. Our responsibility as instructors at First Responder EMS is to give you the confidence, skills and knowledge to perform high quality CPR in a cardiac arrest emergency.

Standard First Aid (SFA)

First Aid is defined by the American Heart Association as “the immediate care that you give someone with an illness or injury before trained help arrives and takes over.” At First Responder our students learn every step in rendering first aid. Students will begin with legal aspects of first aid, scene assessment, and victim assessment. The core of the class will then focus on hands on practice in treating burns, wounds, bleeding, shock, bone/joint/muscle injury, poisoning, bite and stings, environmental emergencies, and much more. Knowing first aid will prepare you to act in emergency and provide care for friends and family members of our community, or even yourself!

Pediatric First Aid **New Course!** (PFA)

Pediatric first aid skills are essential to know for those who care for children on a daily basis. Although the American Heart Association focuses on prevention of injuries and illnesses of children, at least half of fatal injuries could have been prevented by simple actions in the home, childcare centers and other places. During this course, students will learn about child safety, how to interact with children, medical and injury emergencies, environmental emergencies, asthma and inhaled medication treatment, as well as other important first aid tips. This course does meet the qualification requirements for licensed daycare providers!
